System Generator

Display

Builds a whole Alien RPG star system: stars, planets and moons with seven surface regions each, then the colony, outposts, factions and orbital stations, ready for the station generator and the Mother console.

1Set the specification

Region sets settlement odds, colony size and growth, and the settlement classification.
Territory sets the allegiance table, UPP sponsorship and which navy runs a garrison.
Stars, Primary star and Main world can be chosen or left on Roll.
Options: survey finds per region; the Frontier War overlay (Frontier colonies only); Lost Worlds content in the lost colony table.

2Generate

Generate system rolls everything that isn't locked.
Each body has a Reroll button that rerolls only that body.
Make main world moves the colony to another body.

3Lock at every level

System: Name, Region, Territory and Stars under the system name.
Body: the lock in each body's header keeps the whole body.
Field: every field and every region has its own lock.
Blocks: Keep boxes hold the settlement, colony fields, factions, stations and hook.
A locked body survives a reroll of the star. Body counts never fall below the locked bodies.
An amber warning shows when a locked body no longer fits the new star.

4Read the sheet

Bodies run from the star outward. Moons sit under their gas giant; belts sit in the gaps.
The main world is the body with the best total resources, as the core book says colonies go to the most lucrative world.
Settlements: a colony, an outpost, a lost colony or nothing, plus outposts on other bodies.
GM only boxes hold hidden faction presence and lost colony secrets.

5Colony size

Core Systems and Outer Rim colonies can grow past Established. Each step needs a 6+ on D6 (Core Systems add 1), so very large colonies are rare.

6Into the station generator

For each station, choose its Role, Operator, Size class, Age, Position and State, and type the Parent body and Situation. Tick each box, then Generate station.
The station generator rolls its own years in service and years abandoned.
To keep the name, lock Name in the station generator and type it in.

7Into the Mother console

Copy as text or Save… › Text file gives a STAR SYSTEM SURVEY file for the console's Import tab.
Everything above GM ONLY becomes one system record. GM ONLY items stay away from the AI.
Orbital stations stay inside the system record. Import a station's own file to make it a vessel.

8Rules to remember

A Supergiant appears only in Uncharted space; elsewhere it becomes a Giant.
Ice planets are always Frozen. Tidally locked worlds have no tilt.
Most joining rules are house rules; the tables doc lists each one.
